Comscore Payroll Accountant in Reston, Virginia

Job Title: Payroll Accountant

Location: Reston VA or Remote

About This Role:

The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for accurately processing the payroll, recording journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and reconciling bank transactions related to payroll. The role requires an understanding of payroll procedures and regulations, excellent mathematical skills, ability to process payroll timely and accurately and maintain confidentiality regarding the information. We are seeking someone who has a strong attention to detail, can consistently produce accurate work and works efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll including bi- weekly and off cycle payrolls.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Compensation, HR, and Finance) on payroll inputs.

  • Acts as a resource for employee payroll related processes and questions, and other related inquiries via the payroll mailbox.

  • Records and reconciles cash transactions for all payroll bank accounts.

  • Accurately prepare payroll journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Performs account reconciliation and analysis while ensuring supporting documentation is accurate.

  • Analyzes data to identify recurring problems, then investigates and recommends corrective action.

  • Assists with answering questions and providing documentation in a timely manner to internal and external auditors.

  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

  • Ability to meet committed timelines and prioritize responsibilities with minimal supervision.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills required.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed in a very fast paced environment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

What You'll Need:

  • 1-2 years of payroll experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources or other related field highly preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and or experience

  • Workday ERP experience highly preferred

  • Basic quantitative and analytical skills

  • Strong Excel skills; working knowledge of MS Office suite

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Good communication skills

  • Solid business ethics: ability to maintain strict confidentiality related to all Comscore’s financial matters

  • Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000; commensurate with experience
